Canada Crime Data

CrimeMaps.ca aggregates Canadian crime open-data from 60 municipal, police, and provincial open-data portals into a single searchable, mappable dataset. This page is the canonical directory of our data sources — useful for journalists, researchers, and data analysts who need to cite or reproduce our data.

Municipal police open-data portals

Each city page below links directly to the upstream source. Most portals publish data under an Open Government Licence that allows attribution-required re-use.

How to cite CrimeMaps.ca

If you use data from this site, please link to the specific city page and include a citation in this form:

CrimeMaps.ca. "2026 Crime Data — [City Name]." Accessed [date]. https://crimemaps.ca/city/[slug]

We recommend citing the original police/municipal source in parallel. CrimeMaps.ca does not modify raw incident records; we normalise classifications and geographies.

API access

We do not currently offer a public API. All aggregated data is available as static JSON at /aggregates.json, and per-city summaries at /aggregates/[slug].json. Raw incident geometry is served via PMTiles for the interactive map but is not exposed as a bulk download.
